:October 24, 2005: Two fisherman from nearby Christian County lost their lives when their boat overturned near the Smithland Dam on the Ohio River. The Lockmaster called Livingston County Dispatch after noticing an abandoned, capsized boat near the base of the dam. An unattended pickup truck was located in the parking area and a search effort was underway shortly thereafter. Both bodies were recovered within a few days as a result of search efforts by Livingston County Emergency crews assisted by McCracken County Rescue personnel.
