Two people suffered unspecified injuries in a head on accident on the US60 Bridge over the Cumberland River in Smithland. One vehicle had it's roof severed by the other vehicle, however the driver was able to duck out of the way in time to avoid serious injury. Both drivers were transported to a Paducah hospital. Assisting agencies at the scene were Smithland Fire, Burna Fire, Livingston EMS and Kentucky State Police. Shortly after the initial accident, another minor chain reaction accident occured further up the bridge involving 3 vehicles resulting in one minor injury. Livingston EMS and Livingston County Sheriff's Office handled that incident. An inspection of the bridge by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet did not disclose any significant structural damage and traffic resumed within two hours.
